“Toda a equipa vai dedicar-se ao máximo.”
With time running out, Porto has found their footing and seems to be back on the right path after a win last weekend against Marítimo at the Dragão on Saturday. With a very convincing win the weekend before Jesualdo Ferreira would keep the eleven who won a convincing victory in the visit to Belenenses in the previous round. Numbers of supporters in attendance for the clash would be an impressive 25,909 spectators in attendance at the Dragão. Although Porto would be caught off guard early by a goal from Marítimo’s Taka in the first 25 seconds of the match, Porto quickly regrouped and a beautiful ball from Freddy Guarin would reach Falcao who would score a mighty goal with an acrobatic bicycle kick. Only four minutes following Falcao’s goal at the 4th, the Dragons would find another chance and would take it. Miguel Lopes would send in a ball for Raul Meireles who would line up the Dragon’s second goal of the night, a ball that should have been saved by Marítimo’s Peçanha.
Following the second goal of the home team the match was from there on in the hands of the Dragons. The match would continue to cruise on until the 21st minute would signal a switch for Porto as Raul Meireles would suffer an injury that would lead to him leaving the pitch in what can only be described as severe pain from the grimaces. Fernando Belluschi would take Raul Meireles’ place on the pitch. Halftime would come and go quickly and Porto would return to attacking aggressively and it would be no time before the 51st minute would roll in and a Porto corner from Hulk would come in to meet Falcao who would score the teams third of the night. With his second goal of the evening, Falcao would become the leagues top scorer with 20 goals. Following two changes for Marítimo and one for the Dragons, Porto would set up their fourth and final goal of the night at the 78th as a ball from Tomas Costa would be passed off to Hulk who would score his first of the night. With the last few minutes winding down the crowd broke into song in a unified observance of gratitude and satisfaction with the team’s performance. With three points in their hands Porto continues on to their fight for second place in which Braga currently holds with a 5 point lead on the Dragons.
